Microstructural and Mechanical Properties of Ti3SiC2-CNF Composite Materials by PM

This study aims to investigate the microstructure and mechanical properties of Ti3SiC2-carbon nanofiber (CNF) composite materials by powder metallurgy (PM). Ti, SiC, graphite CNF powders were used produce Ti3SiC2-CNF materials. After formulated ground in a ball mill, milled pressed at 500 MPa pressure then sintered 1150 °C, 1300 °C 1450 °C. SEM-EDS XRD analysis examine phase formation. Hardness test was carried out with help Vickers hardness apparatus. The densities measured Archimedes’ principle. Three-point bending performed determine transverse rupture strength (TRS) samples. SEM images showed that samples have kink band nanolaminar structures typical MAX presence Ti3SiC2 detected also supports this situation.
